-Jason, we need to go! – Jason’s mother
called him from the car.
-Joanna, you must wait for me! – He hugged
her one more time.
-You have to come back, or I will marry
another guy 15 years later! – Joanna said with teardrops falling down on her
cheeks.

teardrops.
-I will be strong and wait for you!

forehead.
-Jason, we will miss the flight! – Jason’s
father called out from inside the car.

He jumped on the car and got his head out of
the window before the car moved.
-I will come back! – He shouted as the wheels
started to spin.
-I will wait! – Joanna ran after the car.
She ran for a while and stopped when the car
was nowhere to find. She held the medal tightly in her hands and believed that
they would meet again in the future and he would keep his words, giving her a
happy family. She believed…
-Joanna, are you okay? – Jennifer put a glass
of milk on her study table.
-Oh, I am okay. Thank you, mother! – She
started.
-I know that feeling, my girl! – Jennifer
took a chair and sat down next to Joanna.
-Will he come back as he promised?

Jennifer closed the door and left. Joanna
brought out the medal and looked at it for a while, then she nodded her head
for getting motivation.
-What do we have for our dinner, mother? –
Jessie came back from school.
-Wash your face and your hands, then call
your sister to get into the dining room. – Jennifer replied. – We have
mushroom, chicken and banana for today.
-Yup, mom! Is she studying?
-Yes, she is in a hard time moving up.
-I know, we will be right by her side every
time.
The time passed very fast, 10 years had gone.
Joanna had won a scholarship to the Foreign Languages University and graduated
with an excellent certificate. At 22, she had been in a hard decision between
choosing to study abroad by a scholarship of her university or applying to work
for a company or a school. She brought out the medal and looked at it for a
while.
-If I study abroad, when you come back, you
will not see me here. – She said to herself. – But I also want to prove that I am a strong lady by getting a
Master's Degree.
After getting advice from her mother, her
sister, and some friends, Joanna decided to get the scholarship. She thought
that if Jason had been waiting for her near ten years, he could wait some more
for her to get a new level of her life.
Joanna went to England for studying Society
Research and Languages Application. In the university, she met Katrina, another
Chinese researcher. Katrina was a kind lady, helping Joanna much both in her
researches and her life in a foreign country. After finishing her Master's
Degree, Katrina stayed in England for some more years to get a Ph.D. Degree of
Society and People Research. However, people did not know that, one of the main
reasons she chose to stay was Joanna. She could see that Joanna was a good
lady, but innocent and easy to be bullied. She wanted to protect her younger
“sister”.
Three years passed, Joanna got her degree,
she also wanted to stay with Katrina for getting another degree. However, the
medal reminded her of the time of her, and Jason’s promise was very close. She
got a decision to stop her studies there and returned to China.
After returning to China, Joanna applied to
be a teacher in a primary school in her province. With her certificates, she
easily got the job and started her works very early. Just some weeks later,
Joanna became a famous teacher in the province, with the high-tech and
easy-understood way of teaching. She had many invitations to tutor for children
of many rich families. However, with the heart of bringing the knowledge to all
people, she rejected the invitations and continued her works in primary school.
Joanna’s 27th birthday comes. She is greeted
and celebrated by her family and her friends. Deeply in her heart, she still
wants to have a greeting from a very special person, her first love. She could
not accept anyone showing their love to her, both in China and England, because
the first love always stood still in her mind and heart.
