-Mercedes Goniza? – Jennifer yells and drops the glass of water on her hand.

-Jennifer Alcataras? – Mercedes also surprises.

-I should know this earlier. Your Goniza family… - Jennifer stands up. – Why don’t you leave us alone? Why do you always appear in the Alcataras’ lives?

-Jennifer… - Mercedes is wordless.

-Mom, how do you know each other? – Kelvin wonders.

-Joanna, I am so sorry, but I cannot let you be her daughter-in-law! – Jennifer holds Joanna’s hand and pulls her to go.

-Mother, please have an explanation to… - Kelvin holds Jennifer’s hand.

-We do not need any explanation, Kelvin, I am so sorry. – Jennifer says and walks out of the room.

-We will talk later, Joanna. – Kelvin shouts after her.

-Mom, what happened? – Kelvin asks Mercedes. – Why does Miss Jennifer feel angry like that when she meets you? I do not understand.

-Of course, you not. – Mercedes holds his hand. – Go home and I will tell you.

-Mother, you were too emotional. – Joanna gets into her house with Jennifer.

-Mom, why do you and sister come home so early? – Jessie is watching TV.

-I will tell you the whole story now. – Jennifer turns off the TV.

“I promised myself that I would never meet that lady again in my life.”, Jennifer sits down next to Jessie, Joanna sits opposite them. “Mercedes and I used to be friends, she, at that time, was a famous actress and had a high level in the movie industry.

-Jennifer, you are very beautiful! – Mercedes said. – You can attend a beauty contest. It will help you much in your works and have a better future.

-Can I? – Jennifer wondered. – I am too afraid of appearing in front of many people.

-Be confident, you are beautiful and you should show that to every people.

Jennifer then joined a beauty contest introduced by Mercedes. After five rounds, Jennifer easily won the first-rate of all. She was smart, had the beauty and the talent of singing and dancing. Her catwalk skills taught by Mercedes also helped her win the final round. However, she could not win the scare of crowded people in front of her, she failed the final interview and just got the first runner-up reward.

Nevertheless, she could also be aimed at many producers and magazines. Some companies even wanted to invite her to be their representatives. Some of the producers wanted her to appear in their movies, at first, for some small roles. She received invitations for being the cover lady for some popular magazines also. That made Jennifer’s life turn to another page.

Her husband, Micheal, on another hand, did not agree much when she took part in the showbiz’s activities. He still wanted them to have a normal life. Jennifer promised him she would stop when she felt it was enough. She gave birth to Joanna and Jessie, however, Micheal’s business ran into a difficult period. Jennifer continued her showbiz works when Jessie was just two years old. She sent her daughters to her mother for helping her in taking care of them.

Jennifer brought much of the money from her representative work to help her husband’s business. After some months, his works became better. He and Mercedes’ husband even worked together in some projects helping both of them win big in the market.

Aldor, a famous director of that time, wanted to invite Jennifer to take part in his newest movie project. Mercedes booked a meeting with Jennifer before she received the invitation.

-Jennifer, I know that this chance is a big opportunity for you to grow up in showbiz. – Mercedes said. – However, please do not accept Aldor’s invitation.

-Why? Mercedes, you also understand how important this chance is to me! – Jennifer asks.

-Aldor is not as good as he shows to other people.

-Mercedes, you want this role, right?

-It is not that, I am worried about your safety! We all know why we have to care about our safety! – Mercedes held Jennifer’s hand.

-That is enough, Mercedes, I will take this chance.

Jennifer said and stood up, she went to the exit door without looking back at her friend.

Some days later, after Mercedes asked for help from some of her friends. Jennifer was kicked out of all the projects she had got, including the movie invitation from Aldor.

Aldor did not let out the chance, he had a  meeting alone with Jennifer to convince her. However, on the way to meet Aldor, Jennifer’s car had problems and she could not get the place to meet him. Knowing that Mercedes was the one who interrupted her way, she went straight to Mercedes’ home. However, they did not meet each other, because Mercedes’ husband had injured in an accident and she was in a hospital to take care of him.

After some days, Micheal met a group of bad guys, they beat him so badly in an empty road. No one saw him laying there until the next morning. Jennifer ran to find her husband but could not find any signals of him. Until the next day’s afternoon, she received information that her husband had died on the way to the hospital due to heavy injuries.

Mercedes’ husband also died some weeks later, the used-to-be friends did not want to meet each other more. And then, they lost the connection.”

-What a kind of miserable story! – Jessie says.

-You have never told us about your past. – Joanna touches her mother’s hand.
